Based on a $110,000 salary, 5-year lease, signed today, and the ATO's current FBT exemption rules, with a 7.5% finance rate and no deposit. Includes estimated running costs and a provider management fee. The final residual is separate from weekly costs. Savings compare the same car with a standard car loan and account for differences in final payments. Your provider’s quote and personal circumstances may change the result.

The CX-60 and CX-80 come as plug-in hybrids, with a petrol engine as well as a plug-in battery. The CX-70 and CX-90 are mild hybrids, and the rest of the range is petrol or diesel. We only track fully electric cars. Plug-in hybrids stopped qualifying for the electric car FBT exemption on 1 April 2025, so a new novated lease on one is treated like a lease on a petrol car.
No. Plug-in hybrids stopped qualifying for the electric car FBT exemption on 1 April 2025, and the CX-60 and CX-80 plug-in hybrids have a petrol engine as well as their battery. You can still take a novated lease on one, but without the exemption the saving is much smaller than on the fully electric 6e or CX-6e. The only exception is a plug-in hybrid lease that was already exempt before that date and has not changed since.
The Mazda 6e and the Mazda CX-6e qualify on every variant we track. The test is the car's list price against the threshold for fuel-efficient vehicles, so the variant you choose matters as much as the model.
On current prices, every exempt Mazda variant we track has a list price under the announced $75,000 cap, so a new lease signed after 1 April 2027 keeps the full exemption under the current proposal. A price rise before then could change that.
On a $110,000 salary and a 5-year lease, the Mazda CX-6e shows the largest estimated saving against a standard car loan, an estimated $26,750 for its best variant. Next is the Mazda 6e at an estimated $25,095. A bigger saving usually comes with a dearer car, so compare take-home pay in the calculator, not just the saving.
There is no minimum, but the saving tracks your marginal tax rate. On the Mazda CX-6e Azami, the estimated saving over the term runs from about $26,750 on a $70,000 salary to about $31,668 on $190,000. Your own figure depends on your salary and the variant you choose. Calculate the Mazda CX-6e Azami on your salary
Yes. A novated lease uses a salary packaging arrangement with your employer. You can explore an estimate before you know, but check with payroll which providers and arrangements your employer supports.
The calculator includes lease payments and estimated running costs. You can adjust the running costs to suit your driving. Provider fees, insurance and finance rates can vary, so compare the itemised quote with your estimate.
A residual payment remains at the end of the lease. Check this amount in your estimate and provider quote, and ask your provider about the available options for keeping, selling or refinancing the car.
