The line-up at a glance

The Atto 1 is BYD’s smallest car, with four seats and a 308-litre boot. The Essential has a 30 kWh battery, a 65 kW motor, 220 km of WLTP range and 65 kW DC charging. The Premium has 43.2 kWh, 115 kW, 310 km and 85 kW charging, and reaches 100 km/h in 9.1 seconds compared with 11.1.

Before you choose

It seats four, not five, so check that works for your household before comparing prices. The Essential’s 220 km suits city driving with home charging. The Premium suits longer drives better. Both are well under every FBT limit. BYD’s prices and offers change often, so ask for the price in writing.

BYD Atto 1 novated lease FAQ

Should I lease the BYD Atto 1 Essential or Premium?

Lease the Essential if you mostly drive around town and charge at home: it costs less each pay. The Premium has 90 km more rated range, much more power and faster DC charging, which matters on freeways and longer trips. Run both in the calculator on the same salary and term to see the gap per pay.

Is the BYD Atto 1 FBT-exempt?

Yes, across the range. The dearest BYD Atto 1 we track is the Premium, and even its list price of $26,311 leaves about $65,350 of headroom under the $91,661 luxury car tax threshold. Every variant therefore qualifies for the electric car FBT exemption, and the whole novated lease, running costs included, can come out of pre-tax salary.

Does the April 2027 change affect the BYD Atto 1?

Not on current prices. The dearest exempt variant, the Premium, has a list price of $26,311, about $48,689 under the announced $75,000 cap, so a new BYD Atto 1 lease keeps the full exemption after 1 April 2027 under the current proposal. A price rise before then could change that. Leases signed earlier are unaffected either way.

What salary do I need for a BYD Atto 1 novated lease to make sense?

There is no minimum, but the saving tracks your marginal rate. On the Premium, the estimated saving over the term runs from about $14,520 on a $70,000 salary to about $17,299 on $190,000. The steepest jump is where your income crosses into the 37% bracket, because that is the rate the packaged amount comes off. Calculate the BYD Atto 1 Premium on your salary

How accurate are these BYD Atto 1 numbers?

They are estimates, not a quote. Each variant uses its own catalogue price. These answers use the Premium at $26,311 + on-road costs, a 5-year term and a $110,000 salary. Interest rates, fees and running costs can change a provider's quote. Personalise the estimate in the calculator.

Does my employer need to offer novated leasing for the BYD Atto 1?

Yes. Your employer needs to support salary packaging for the lease. You can estimate the Premium here without entering contact details, then check with payroll which providers and arrangements your employer accepts.

What is included in the estimated BYD Atto 1 cost?

For the Premium, the estimate includes lease finance, estimated running costs and a typical provider fee, after estimated tax savings. It is not just a finance repayment. The annual cost excludes any upfront deposit and the final payment to keep the car; review the calculator breakdown and your provider's quote.

Is there a final payment to keep the BYD Atto 1?

Yes. The 5-year Premium example has an estimated final payment of $7,401 to keep the car. That payment is separate from the displayed annual cost. Your lease contract sets the actual amount and end-of-lease options.

What happens after I request a callback about the BYD Atto 1?

You review the contact form and consent before submitting. Your enquiry and estimate are sent to our leasing and finance partner, so they can discuss your needs and next steps. Requesting a callback does not commit you to a lease. You can also choose to email yourself the estimate instead.
